Cost-effective closure with the resealability properties of Natural rubber and the analytical purity of Butyl. Nowadays often replaced by Red Rubber/FEP closures that are also availalbe in colored caps to color-code different sample types, labs or shifts.

More modern and advanced septa material than Natural rubber or Butyl. It is easier to penetrate and causes less fragmentation which is why it is nowadays preferably used in all kinds of closure types as an economic seal.

Silicone/PTFE is the recommended by most instrument manufacturers due to its high analytical purity which makes it also suitable for more sensitive analysis. Easy and safe penetration along with low fragmentation and a high temperature resistance add to the advantages of this liner material.

Both-sided PTFE laminated Silicone septa, so-called sandwich septa, are often used in high sensitive analysis and in research and development applications, since coring during penetration has been shown to be lowest here. Due to the high temperature resistance the material is ideal for usage in GC.
